Michael Morgan is counsel to Harris + Harris LLP law firm and practises in the areas of taxation law, estate planning, wills and estates, and business law. He obtained his law degree from the Faculty of Law of University of Toronto in 1976 and was called to the Ontario Bar in 1978. Michael also earned a Master-in-Laws degree in Taxation Law from Osgoode Hall Law School in 1986. While at University of Toronto Law School, Michael was an editor of the University of Toronto Law Review and a member of numerous law school organizations. Prior to attending law school in Toronto, Michael obtained his undergraduate degree in Commerce and Finance from the University of Toronto. Michael’s practice is primarily focused on tax planning, estate planning, wills and trusts preparation, estate administration and tax disputes resolution for clients, as well as business law. He has extensive experience in developing tax-effective structures for clients, including business owners and their corporations, and in providing estate planning strategies for individual clients, as well as in implementing business transactions. Michael assists clients to achieve business and/or personal objectives in connection with a broad range of activities, including: • tax and business structuring, including establishing businesses and corporate reorganizations Michael has been a frequent speaker on a broad range of tax planning and estate planning topics to various organizations, including the Law Society of Upper Canada, the Ontario Bar Association, and numerous business organizations. He is a member of the Canadian Tax Foundation, the Canadian Bar Association, the Estate Planning Council of Toronto, and the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners. Michael is also an adjunct professor at Queen’s Law School, teaching the corporate taxation course, and served as an instructor in the Business Law course and the Estate Planning course of the Ontario Bar Admission Course. |
